Can an outdated supervillain find new life?
The year is 1914. The specter of war looms large over London, but to Professor James Moriarty, it is just another event in a world that is passing him by. Ever since the death of Sherlock Holmes twenty years previous, Moriarty has been searching for meaning. His once-great criminal empire is in ruins, and he is a shell of his former self.
But little does Moriarty know that the changing tide will affect his world as well, as a string of events fall into line: the advent of war and an organiztion called the Black Hand, street demonstrators proclaiming the end is near, the disappearance of an old associate. In the midst of this, Moriarty is approached by an MI5 agent named Smith who blackmails him into a mission: find Mycroft Holmes.
Moriarty finds that the catalyst of these events is a psychic camera obscura that grants the ability to predict the future. Further investigation reveals that everything points to a new foe: Gottfried, a villain who threatens to surpass Moriarty’s legend. With both the underworld and the law in pursuit, the only person Moriarty can trust is an assassin named Jade, a beautiful and deadly femme fatale from his past. Together, they must unravel the mystery and stop Gottfried, allowing Moriarty to once again claim his role as world’s greatest criminal.
