The Story...
ELIZABETH KILBRIDE is a character-driven story of intrigue about a young, virtuoso classical pianist who fights to survive her controlling mother, wayward lover, and the European underworld.
Elizabeth is a famous concert artist who is unable to reconcile with her past. As a result, she attempts suicide, is divorced by her husband, and is committed to an asylum. She is discharged and forced to live at home in the south of France with her wealthy and repressive mother, who has a history of exploiting Elizabeth's talents.
In an effort to compete with a rival family, the Mortimers, Mrs. Kilbride plans to marry Elizabeth off to her own lover, a wealthy nobleman. The situation complicates as Elizabeth falls in love with the nobleman's son Louis, who in turn betrays her. Just when Elizabeth seems trapped by her mother's treachery, she is forced to murder her mother's consort in self-defense, and escapes as a fugitive from the law with the Mortimer's daughter June, who is obsessed with her.
Elizabeth encounters a powerful and mysterious underworld figure named Vitelli, and is pushed to the point of near insanity as she discovers a conspiracy that could destroy her. In order to survive, Elizabeth must use her talent and cunning to construct an elaborate scheme to defeat her enemies and face off with her mother once and for all.
